36a Kerrs Road, Castle Hill, Sydney, Australia

The land was bought by Roger and Justine Sawkins in 1970 and they built a house on it, selling it in December 1971. Paul, Joachim, Dominic and Cara also lived there.

The block of land was covered mainly in long grass with a number of fine gum trees. There were some sheds at the back which were overgrown.

The sitting room with the dining room beyond. These rooms were at the front of the house and the sliding doors opened to the side garden at the end of the drive.

The sitting room looking the other way with a wooden 'fence' (with swing doors in the middle) to separate it from the hallway. Roger made some chipboard storage boxes and bookcases with bricks and planks.

The narrow driveway had gum trees down one side and bamboo down the other, which was an impressive entrance but not very wide. A fence was added on the outside of the trees.

The back of the house from the garden, which did not have very high priority!

1971

The garden was eventually cleared and grassed, with the old tree stumps used for seats.
